Cognitive Behavioral Group Therapy for Adults (CBGT-YA)

For interested young adults, aged 18-25, CUCARD offers a social phobia group. This group takes a multi-method approach to coping with excessive anxiety in social situations in, including techniques for:

• problem solving
• coping with anxious thoughts
• confronting fears directly through in-session role plays
• out-of-session real life social situations
• homework
• relaxation

The group is specially focused on as negotiating important life transitions such as graduating from high school or college, or getting a first job, and developing a network of social relationships.

The group typically consists of 5-7 people, and is typically a mix of men and women. The group is designed to be short term, and to fit with the often busy schedules of clients who may be home on break and thus only available for a short period of time. For more information on this group, please contact Jamie Hambrick at (212)246-5740.
